Project UWUS
Project UWUS brings cervical cancer and women’s health education to markets and primary healthcare facilities, through trained volunteer health ambassadors working with local leaders and health workers.
Women who trade in markets work long hours and rarely visit a clinic until they are unwell. UWUS takes information, referrals and encouragement to them, and connects them to the primary health centres that can help.
Ambassadors meet women in markets and PHCs.
Clear, local-language health education.
Women are referred for screening.
PHCs receive and follow up referrals.
Women become advocates themselves.
