Nutrition Thursday: Eat Your Water

Nutrition Thursday: Eat your water

Guess what? Drinking enough water may just not be enough to keep your body functioning.

Yeah, you read that right.

Now, don’t get it twisted: it is very important to drink plenty of water. But hydration is not only about the amount of water you consume. It is more about how much water you can hold in your system.

How do you achieve this? Eat foods that contain a high percentage of water. That way, the water from those foods stays in the body longer and has the added benefit of providing the necessary nutrients to your body.

A win-win, yeah? Here are some of them:

  • Watermelons
  • Tomatoes
  • Cucumbers
  • Cauliflowers
  • Strawberries
  • Pineapples
  • Oranges

These foods are rich in water and electrolytes and should be included in your diet.

What a fun, nutritious and refreshing way to stay hydrated!

PS: Keep drinking plenty of plain water throughout the day. It is not negotiable.
